Column Information
**ARISTONE
ASSUMES NO RESPONSIBILITY OR LIABILITY FOR THE DELIVERY AND/OR
INSTALLATION OF ANY OF OUR PRODUCTS**
All Aristone columns are available in the following configurations:
One Piece
Columns:
Structural Concrete
These are one-piece solid concrete columns, typically used in
load bearing situations. To provide structural integrity the columns
are cast with a rebar cage in the center. The cage consists of
#5 rebar in 21 base columns and #4 rebar in 16 & 18
base columns, both have #3 stirrups on 8 centers. The rebar
extends out 12 from the bottom of the base of the column.
There is a ¾ x 6 coil loop insert cast into
the top of the column, it is used to attach the structural member
to the top of the column, it can also be used to lift the column
provided the correct bolt and lifting fitting is used. All structural
information is available by request or on our website at www.aristonedesigns.com
**IT IS VERY
IMPORTANT THAT A BACK-UP CHOKER IS USED DURNING THE INSTALLATION
OF STRUCTURAL CONCRETE
COLUMNS**
**PLEASE REMEMBER
OUR STRUCTURAL COLUMNS WEIGH UP TO 2,500 LBS AND SHOULD ONLY BE
INSTALLED BY A LICENSED PRECAST INSTALLATION CONTRACTOR**
Plaster
One-piece plaster columns are for interior use only and have no
load bearing capability. The typical wall thickness is +- 1.
It is important that plaster columns be installed a minimum of
4 off the floor to avoid damage from brooms, kids, vacuums
etc.
GFRC
Glass Fiber Reinforced (GFRC) columns are cast horizontally in
2 pieces and can be joined at the factory when a one-piece column
is desired.
Split Columns (SP)
Split columns are used primarily when you have to wrap
around a structural support post. Concrete split columns can be
assembled and grouted solid to provide a structural member (please
check your local building codes). The center void for the concrete
split columns is from 5 to 10 depending on the columns
size. The center void for the GFRC and Plaster columns is +-2
less than the outside shaft diameter.
SPLIT COLUMNS
ARE AVAILABLE IN CONCRETE, PLASTER , FRP (FIBERGLASS REINFORCED
POLYMER) AND GFRC (GLASS FIBER REINFORCED CONCRETE)
PLEASE REMEMBER
1 SPLIT COLUMN IS 2 PIECES
Three Piece
Fluted Columns:
Our three piece fluted columns (Corinthian, Ionic & Tuscan)
come with a 21 ½ square base with a 11 ½
diameter void in center, a solid structural shaft (see solid column
section for structural information) and a 19 square capital
with a 8 ½ void in the center. The rebar cage extends
approximately 12 out of the top and bottom of the solid
shaft.
Aristone Materials & Finishes
All of Aristones
products are available in Concrete, Plaster & Glass Fiber
Reinforced Concrete (GFRC).Turncraft
Columns are available in Fiberglass Reinforced Polymer (FRP)
All materials
meet or exceed the ASTM requirements.
Concrete:
Concrete products can be used both inside and outdoors. Their
extreme durability and low cost make them the ideal choice for
long term outdoor use. Integral color can be achieved by adding
iron oxide pigments to the concrete during manufacturing. Aristone
offers 14 standard concrete design mixes (colors).
All products
are available in smooth (form) finish, 3 levels of sandblast,
distressed (air hammered) and our Ari-Stone (Old World) finish.
A stackable Tuscan column in our Ari-Stone finish rivals the appearance
of natural stone but without the long delivery times and at a
much more reasonable cost.
The obvious
disadvantage of concrete is its weight (140+- Lbs per cubic foot),
all products must be offloaded and moved to their final location
by hand or by forklift. Structural concrete columns are typically
set by crane.
Design mixes
and compressive strength test results are available upon request
or on our website at: www.aristonedesigns.com
Plaster:
Plaster products are for interior use only. Aristone uses a high
quality white casting plaster with a natural fabric back up for
strength. Plaster product wall thickness is typically ¾
to 1. Plaster is ideal for painting or faux finishing. It
is important that plaster columns be installed a minimum of 4
off the floor to avoid damage from brooms, kids, vacuums
etc.
Glass Fiber Reinforced Concrete (GFRC)
Glass Fiber Reinforced concrete is a high strength, lightweight
concrete product manufactured using sand, cement, alkali resistant
fiber and an acrylic polymer curing agent.
The final
product consists of a GFRC shell approximately ½
to 3/4 thick. GFRC products are as much as 75% lighter than
a comparable concrete products.
GFRC is the
ideal product for limited access areas where heavy structural
columns and or other concrete products are not practical.
GFRC is available
in gray, white or colored cement and either a smooth or our Ari-Stone
finish. Theproduct is excellent for painting or staining.
Fiberglass
Reinforced Polymer (FRP)
Aristone is now the Arizona distributor for Turncraft Poly
Classic Columns. These are rotocast fiberglass reinforced polymer
and they are suitable for both interior and exterior use. They
are available in fluted and non-fluted round, tapered shaft in
sizes ranging from 6 x 6 to 24 x 20 .
We stock 6, 8, 10 & 12 in our Tempe
warehouse. Other sizes are available by special order and are
typically available in 3 to 4 weeks.
